About vvt technology (variable valve timing), we are familiar with a technology VVA ie variable valve actuation technology. which is used in Yamaha R15 and recently launched MT15 has also included this technique. yamaha brings a greater initiative to brings this technology in the 150cc segment. because most of the manufacturers are brings this technology into their high-end models so that's why we appreciate the Yamaha motors.
Now we go to the history of the VVA. which is already used in Aircraft as an experimental setup. after that vvt has been included in motorcycles engines. which is Kawasaki 1400 GTR/Concous 14 in 2007, then Ducati multistrad 1200 has included in 2015, Yamaha YZF R15 came with this technology in 2017 at last BMW R1250GS included this technology.

so hope you have a question that is there any car manufactures are included this technology? yes, of course, car manufactures have used this technology mostly in a wide range. they use many different names to describe their implementation of various types of variable valve timing system. the overall mechanism is the same. Eg:- VVT-i (Toyota, Lexus), VTEC, i-VTEC (Honda, Acura), Vario Cam (Porsche), Valve lift (Audi), VVL (Nissan), VVC (MG Rover), VVEL (Nissan), Ti VCT (ford), CVVT (developed by Hyundai motor co., Kia, but it can also be founded in Geely, Iran khodro, Volvo), etc.... so many of motors are implemented which is not specified here. Now you have an overall idea about this tech.
Next is whats the mechanism behind this technology?
Mostly in IC engines are used this technology. It is the process of altering the timing of a valve lift event. We know that valve intake and exhaust are the major influence that improves the efficiency and power of the engine.
